New government legislation, Simpler Recycling, requires all businesses, schools, hospitals, and public bodies in England to separately collect key recyclable materials by October 2025. These include:

From April 2026, all food waste must be collected weekly and separately stored and processed, it will no longer be legal to mix food waste with general or dry recycling.
